Terms of Use
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of miniface (miniface.org) — operated by Pooya Moradi M., Rome, Italy("we", "us", or "our"). By using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
1. About miniface
miniface is a browser-based application combining two core tools into one:
- ARKit Blendshape Guide(miniface) — an interactive educational reference for 3D artists, animators, and developers documenting Apple ARKit's 52 facial blendshapes, based on the Facial Action Coding System (FACS). Includes reference videos, muscle anatomy, and technical descriptions. Facial muscle anatomy names, functions, and visual references were curated by Melinda Ozel, Facial Motion Expert.
- Real-Time Mocap Studio — a browser-based facial motion capture tool. Its core capabilities include:
- Facial motion capture— your webcam feed is processed locally using MediaPipe's face landmarker model (running in WebAssembly). Facial landmark coordinates drive blendshape animations on a 3D avatar in real time.
- Head rotation tracking— pitch, yaw, and roll captured via a 4×4 transformation matrix, mapped to the avatar's Head, Neck, and Spine2 bones.
- Secondary / finger motion — a spring-physics system drives additional bone chains (including finger joints) for natural follow-through motion.
- GLB export — recorded sessions are exported as a self-contained binary GLTF (
.glb) file embedding the full avatar mesh, skeleton, textures, and anAnimationClip. Files download directly to your device. - Avatar customisation — multiple Ready Player Me compatible avatars and scene colour preferences are available within the app.
- Account & cloud saves — optional sign-in via Google OAuth allows you to save recordings to your account, stored in Supabase.
Both tools were designed, created, and are owned by Pooya Moradi M..
2. Acceptance of Terms
By using miniface, you confirm that you:
- Are at least 16 years old (or have parental consent if younger).
- Have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Cookie Policy.
- Are using the service for lawful purposes only.
3. Camera Access & On-Device Processing
The mocap studio requires access to your device camera. By granting camera permission:
- You acknowledge that your camera feed is processed entirely on your device. No video, image frames, or raw facial data are transmitted to our servers at any point.
- Facial landmark coordinates extracted by MediaPipe are used solely to animate the 3D avatar in your browser session and, if you choose to record, to generate numerical motion data for export.
- We do not store, analyse, sell, or share your biometric or facial data. Exported
.glbfiles contain only numerical motion keyframes — not video or images of your face. - You retain full control: you may revoke camera permission at any time through your browser settings.
- You must not use the service to capture, record, or export the motion data of another person without their informed and explicit consent.
4. Recordings & Exported Files
The animation data you create with miniface belongs to you. The following applies to all exports:
- Fully local generation —
.glbfiles are generated entirely in your browser. They are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. - Local exports — files downloaded to your device are stored solely on your device and under your control. We have no access to them.
- Cloud saves — if you are signed in and choose to save a recording to your account, the motion data is stored in Supabase under your user ID and is accessible only to you. If cloud saving is disabled or you are not signed in, nothing is stored on our servers.
- Animation ownership — the original animation data you generate belongs to you. You may use it in any personal or commercial project without royalties or attribution to miniface.
- Third-party avatar assets — an exported file may contain bundled avatar assets subject to third-party licences. Ownership of those assets is not transferred to you. Your rights over them are limited to those granted by the applicable third-party licence. See Section 5.
- Data deletion — recording data is deleted when you close the tab, reload the page, start a new recording session, or discard the recording.
5. Avatar Assets & Third-Party Content
miniface includes bundled avatars based on licensed assets. The following applies to all third-party content provided with the service:
- Bundled avatars are licensed assets. Ownership remains with their respective licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of those assets.
- The Louise head model is made available by Eisko under their terms. The Claire head model is made available by NVIDIA Omniverse under their terms.
- If an exported file contains third-party assets, those assets remain subject to their original licence. miniface does not grant you any additional rights over them.
- You are responsible for complying with applicable third-party licences regarding any avatar assets contained in your exports.
- If bundled avatars are replaced in future versions, the replacement assets will simply be subject to the licence accompanying that version.
5.1 MetaHuman Sample Avatar (Epic Games)
miniface includes a bundled sample avatar based on the MetaHuman technology developed by Epic Games. The bundled head is based on a MetaHuman-derived educational reference published by Dragonboots Studios – Blender Tutorials and obtained from dragonboots.gumroad.com. The sample head was adapted, rigged onto a Mixamo-compatible skeleton, and integrated into miniface exclusively as a demonstration avatar for testing and illustrating the service's real-time facial motion capture capabilities.
The bundled sample avatar is provided solely as part of miniface's functionality. It is not sold separately, and ownership of the underlying MetaHuman technology, together with all associated intellectual property rights, remains with Epic Games and/or the respective third-party rights holders.
miniface does not claim ownership of the bundled MetaHuman-derived avatar, and does not grant users any ownership rights or licence beyond those provided by the applicable third-party licences. Any use of bundled third-party assets remains subject to the licence terms established by their respective owners.
The original facial animation and motion data generated from your performance belongs to you. However, ownership of any bundled third-party avatar component — including, where applicable, meshes, skeletons, morph targets, textures, materials, or other character assets — is not transferred to you through your use of the service or by exporting a recording.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any use, modification, redistribution, publication, or commercial exploitation of bundled third-party assets complies with the applicable licence governing those assets. miniface provides facial animation and motion capture tools only and does not provide legal advice regarding third-party intellectual property licences. We do not guarantee that any bundled third-party asset is suitable for every intended use, redistribution scenario, marketplace, software platform, or commercial workflow.
Epic Games, MetaHuman, Unreal Engine, Mixamo, and all other third-party names, trademarks, and intellectual property rights referenced by the service remain the property of their respective owners. Their inclusion in miniface does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, or affiliation unless expressly stated.
